I’m from Denmark but am currently living in Scotland – though I do like moving around!
I’m a psychologist, counsellor and coach and working with me means working in an integrative way where I pull on all of these methods, while also trying to tailor a session after your needs and wants as much as I can.
I found out I was autistic when I was 35. My first client in my private practice was autistic and I thought I’d better go and study this ‘weird’ condition I’d heard lots of bad things about but yet hadn’t been taught anything about during my psychology degree and hadn’t been told how to work with during my 3 years of studying counselling!
And what I discovered was all the answers to all the bits of myself I hadn’t been able to make sense of my whole life until that point – turns out autism isn’t weird or bad but a highly misunderstood different way of seeing and experiencing the world.
I went on to do a Masters in psychology focussing on autism and my dissertation was focused on the consequences for women receiving a late autism diagnosis.
Working with me means we’ll be meeting over zoom for 60 minutes for up to 6 sessions and I’ll be looking for you to bring something you want to talk about – something you want to explore or a goal/outcome you want to work towards or something you just don’t understand. We’ll have a reflective conversation where I’ll ask you questions for you to get to know yourself better and learn to grow your self-awareness and add to your personal development.
We’ll become detectives together, delving into what you don’t understand about yourself or this world and the people in it and how to live a life that suits you better.
I don’t have all the answers though – not least because despite both of us being autistic – you’re each still entirely unique human beings and I don’t know the right answer for you. That’s something we can work together to figure out.
It’s also important to note that since I only offer 6 sessions that we can’t do long-term trauma work. These six sessions will be geared towards supporting you in getting to know and understand yourself better and getting clear on making the kind of choices you need to live a life that’s more satisfactory and joyous.
